Dr. Whitnee Brown is a doctorally prepared, dually board-certified nurse practitioner in family practice and psychiatric mental health. Dr. Brown is a three-time graduate of Troy University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) Family Nurse Practitioner Track, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). She earned her post-doctorate certification in Psychiatric Mental Health at The University of Alabama. She is the author of many peer-reviewed publications and the co-author of a Sigma Theta Tau International publication. Her research focuses on health promotion and wellness in underserved populations through technology. Before becoming a nurse practitioner Brown spent more than half a decade caring for patients in oncology. She has been a nurse practitioner since 2015. She has maintained her practice while caring for the disabled veteran population outpatient, serving in dermatology, working inpatient with a local hospitalist service as well as working in outpatient clinics in psychiatric mental health while treating patients across the lifespan. Dr. Brown is an advocate for community wellness and committed to providing comprehensive care and reducing stigma. Dr. Brown holds local and state officer positions, serving as the Membership Chairperson for the Central Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association. She actively serves on the policy committee for The Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama. She is a member of many professional organizations including the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Sigma Theta Tau, International, and The American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Dr. Brown is also a philanthropist and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
